नई दिल्लीः दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय के प्रोफेसर और विचारक अपूर्वानंद से सोमवार को दिल्ली पुलिस की स्पेशल सेल ने पांच घंटे लंबी पूछताछ की. उन्हें दिल्ली दंगों से जुड़े मामले में पूछताछ के लिए स्पेशल सेल के लोधी रोड स्थित ऑफिस बुलाया गया था, मंगलवार को एक बयान जारी कर अपूर्वानंद ने कहा “फरवरी, 2020 में उत्तर-पूर्व दिल्ली में हुई हिंसा से संबंधित एफआईआर 59/20 के तहत दिल्ली पुलिस की विशेष स्पेशल सेल द्वारा मुझे 3 अगस्त, 2020 को जांच के सिलसिले में बुलाया गया। वहाँ मैंने पाँच घंटे बिताए। दिल्ली पुलिस ने आगे की जांच हेतु मेरा मोबाइल फोन ज़ब्त करना ज़रूरी समझा। पुलिस अथॉरिटी के अधिकार क्षेत्र और घटना की पूर्ण रूप से निष्पक्ष जांच के विशेषाधिकार का सम्मान करते हुए यह उम्मीद की जानी चाहिए कि इस पूरी तफ़्शीस का उद्देश्य शांतिपूर्ण नागरिक प्रतिरोध और उत्तर-पूर्वी दिल्ली के निर्दोष वाशिंदों के खिलाफ हिंसा भड़काने और उसकी साजिश रचने वालों को पकड़ना होगा।
इस जांच का मकसद नागरिकता संशोधन कानून 2019 (CAA, 2019), भारत सरकार द्वारा राष्ट्रीय जनसंख्या पंजीकरण (NPR) और राष्ट्रीय नागरिकता पंजीयन (NRC) के खिलाफ सांवैधानिक अधिकारों और तरीकों से देश भर में अपना विरोध दर्ज़ करने वाले प्रदर्शनकारियों व उनके समर्थकों का उत्पीड़न करना नहीं होना चाहिए।
यह परेशान करने वाली बात है कि एक ऐसा सिद्धान्त रचा जा रहा है जिसमें प्रदर्शनकारियों को ही हिंसा का स्रोत बताया जा रहा है। मैं पुलिस से यह अर्ज़ करना चाहता हूँ और यह उम्मीद करता हूँ उनकी जांच पूरी तरह से निष्पक्ष और न्यायसंगत हो ताकि सच सामने आए”।

On Monday, August 3, 2020, I was asked by the Special Cell, Delhi Police, to appear before it in the investigation into FIR no 59/20 related to Delhi violence. I spent five hours there. The Delhi Police also considered it necessary to seize my phone for the purpose of ‘investigation’. While cooperating and respecting the right of police authorities to conduct a full and thorough investigation, one can only hope that the probe would focus on the real instigators and perpetrators of the violence against a peaceful citizens’ protest and the people of Northeast Delhi .It should not lead to further harassment and victimization of the protestors and their supporters, who asserted their democratic rights through constitutional means to state their dissent to the passage of the CAA and the operationalising of the NPR and NRC.
